Summary/Abstract: The article develops the concept of multidirectional memory as an alternative to the“competitive” logic of Holocaust memory. Analyzing the controversies surroundingthe “Gaza is Warsaw” analogy, the author maps forms of comparison between theHolocaust and other histories of violence, situating them along the axes: equation––differentiation and solidarity–competition. The author criticizes simplified equationsthat lead to moral and political abuses, proposing an ethics of comparison basedon differentiated solidarity and reflective justice. The article demonstrates that publicmemory is structurally relational, but its political consequences depend on how weconstruct analogies.
