Summary/Abstract: Amid growing debates about the need for changes in traditional education, there is a perceptible increase in interest in alternative educational models, where student agency plays a vital role. This article aims to provide a qualitative analysis of how student agency is fostered in the “School in the Cloud” environment—understood as a flexible form of education based on individualised learning processes, student autonomy, and partnership-based relationships. This study is based on in-depth interviews with thirteen students from grades VI to VIII who had attended the School in the Cloud for at least one year. The findings reveal that students perceive themselves as active agents in their learning, capable of critical reflection on the learning process, employing metacognitive strategies, and navigating the online environment with confidence while building peer relationships with fellow students in the Cloud School setting. Moreover, the results highlight a distinctive shift in teacher–student dynamics towards a more partnership-oriented approach. Concurrently, the analysis indicates certain limitations to student agency, particularly the challenges of self-directed learning and the risk of becoming overburdened with responsibility. This article contributes to the broader discussion on alternative educational models, emphasising the importance of striking a balance between student autonomy and systemic as well as instructional support in fostering educational agency. Jednocześnie analiza ujawnia ograniczenia podmiotowości wynikające z konieczności samodzielnego organizowania nauki i ryzyka zaniedbania odpowiedzialności. Artykuł wnosi wkład w dyskusję nad alternatywnymi modelami edukacyjnymi, wskazując na znaczenie równowagi pomiędzy autonomią ucznia a systemowym i dydaktycznym wsparciem w kształtowaniu podmiotowości edukacyjnej.
