Summary/Abstract: This article tries to describe how it were created the state and the nation in the emerging countries of Latin America in the beginning of the XIX-th century. After a short presentation of the general context in which occure the formation of the state and the nation in Latin America, is made an analize on the conceptual nature of the state and the nation. The Argentinian model is take as a study case in order to explain better the complex process of state-building and nation-building.
