Summary/Abstract: Drawing on diverse research material, created both from below and above, the articleanalyzes historical analogies created in Ukrainian public discourse between the SecondWorld War and the Holocaust and the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Applying collectivememory studies methodology enables the author to examine the intertwining of pastand present identifications in accordance with Hilberg’s victim-perpetrator-bystandertriad. Moreover, the applied methodology enables the chronotopic juxtaposition of placesand events, the transformation of the slogan “Never again!”, and the Manichaean visionof history, present in contemporary Ukrainian discourse. The article posits that historicalpolicy in Ukraine displays a tendency to reorient from the Eastern (Russian) versionof collective memory to the Western (European) one.
