Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes analogy as an uncertain yet indispensable form of cognition in contemporary humanities. Drawing on Dialectic of Enlightenment by Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno, the article demonstrates that analogy functions as a heuristic “third term” between concept and image, enabling the thinking of traumas of past and current wars. At the same time, the author reveals their ambivalence: historical analogies can open spaces of empathy but also solidify into tautology and ideological shortcuts. In dialog with Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, and Jacques Derrida, the text questions the normative limits of comparison in the world of media excess and political abuse.
