Summary/Abstract: The triad of von Berg, von Mohl, and von Stein encompasses the foremost theorists of the classical school of German administrative law. Their great merit lies in the fact that, through the theoretical constructions they were able to develop, they achieved the conceptual and principled autonomy of administrative law both from constitutional law and from the science of public administration. The method they employed proved to be effective. They started from the thematic scope – namely, from the object of study previously addressed by the so called cameral sciences – more or less overlapping with the science of the polis – and, by capitalizing on several principles of constitutional law as well as on knowledge subsumed under the science of public administration, they reached the point where they could offer both the academic world and practitioners a new legal discipline endowed with a well deserved university status: administrative law.
