Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of research on the importance of European critical infrastructure in the current conditions of the security environment of Poland and the European Union. New challenges in this area were indicated. The research was conducted after the first year of the European Parliament’s Directive on the Resilience of Critical Entities. The results indicate that the Polish society is very interested in the issues of critical infrastructure protection. Respondents appreciated the importance of all sectors in which essential services are provided, with services directly related to the provision of subsistence needs, such as water, food and energy, the highest. The respondents rated the need to maintain efficient rescue systems relatively high. In the opinion of the authors of the article, this opinion could have been influenced by the Russian-Ukrainian war and the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation towards the European Union.
