Summary/Abstract: The article aims to determine the influence of the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation on international security in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The processes shaping European security and the role of the Kaliningrad region can be interpreted from the point of view of a geopolitical paradigm and constructivism. The significant potential of the Kaliningrad region in developing cooperation between Russia and the West and in constructing a better understanding between societies was recognised with regard to the period 1991–2014. The Russian aggression against Ukraine, initiated in February 2022, stopped all initiatives aimed at increasing the role of the Kaliningrad region as an area of cooperation between Russia and the West. Since that time, the role of the Kaliningrad region in shaping international security in Central and Eastern Europe should be interpreted on the basis of a geopolitical paradigm.
