Summary/Abstract: The Romanian University of Cluj has welcomed international students in its lecture halls since the early years of its existence. Their number has gradually increased over time due to the prestige of this higher education institution. In this study, we aim to discuss the presence of international students at Babeș-Bolyai University from 1959 to 1989, providing an overview of their academic journey. Based on our research, we sought to answer the following questions: Which were the native countries of the young people coming to study in Romania during this period? Which specializations did they mainly pursue? What was the motivation for choosing the University of Cluj? What financial sources did they rely on during their studies in Cluj?
