The Paradigm Shift of the Jiu Valley Economic Governance during the Late 1940s and 1950s

Summary/Abstract: Our study provides a brief comparative analysis of the two types of economy operating in the Jiu Valley in different time periods. On the one hand, we have a capitalist economy, dominated by the private entities that drove the social and economic development of the region, which lasted until the mid-1940s of. After 23 August 1944, under the pressure exerted by the political changes imposed by the Romanian Communist Party, the economic model shifted and the Jiu Valley became part of the communist centralized economy.
