School - Image. Analysis of school themed photos from the magazine Család és iskol

Summary/Abstract: The study conducts a scientific image analysis of school-themed photographs from the journal Család és iskola, interpreting the visual sources based on their primary and secondary visual content, as well as their socio-historical context. The analysis highlights how the photographs served not only as documents, but also as ideological means of conveying state socialist pedagogy. The depiction of children, learning, and community experiences conveyed the ideal of socialist personality, while preserving the authentic layers of the child’s world. The study highlights that the visual sources are fundamental documents for understanding social memory and power representation, which also offer new research perspectives in the study of visual culture, educational history, and political ideologies.
