Summary/Abstract: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) involves a direct investor acquiring a lasting interest in an enterprise operating in another economy. This business relationship has a positive impact on both the host and the investing countries through market development, new customers, and resources, all of which stimulate economic growth and help establish long-term ties between nations. In the following study, the impact of the Human Development Index, GDP per capita, home internet usage, productivity, and hourly wages on the inflow of foreign direct investment and foreign investments in the European Union member states was examined. Based on the results of the panel regression, the independent variables influence capital imports by 60.06%, assuming a one-year lag in the productivity-to-hourly wage ratio. In contrast, capital exports are explained by 73.6% of the independent factors when the effects of the productivity-to-hourly wage ratio and the Human Development Index are delayed by one year.
