Summary/Abstract: The biography of Romania’s first female doctor, Dr. Maria Cuțarida-Crătunescu has been incompletely explored, which explains the circulation of questionable information regarding some details of her life: her date and place of birth, family, or her burial place in Bellu Cemetery. The main source for this article was a file found in the National Archives of Romania in Bucharest, which had not been researched previously. This file has provided a new perspective on the life and professional activity of the woman who is considered to be Romania’s first female doctor and also the founder of the first nurseries in our country.
