Summary/Abstract: This study examines the socio-professional backgrounds of parliamentarians in interwar Transylvania, focusing on the occupations of both mps and their fathers to assess patterns of elite continuity and social mobility. The findings reveal that political power remained concentrated among legal professionals, landowners, and the clergy, with law emerging as the dominant career pathway for political advancement. While Transylvania experienced significant political changes following its union with Romania, the composition of the political elite remained largely unchanged, reinforcing pre-existing social hierarchies. Political careers were often facilitated by family networks, as exemplified by dynastic political families like the Micșa and Vasu families. With very few exceptions, such as the peasant mp Dumitru Iclănzan, lower-class representation in Parliament was minimal, illustrating the barriers to political participation for those without inherited status or professional credentials.
