Summary/Abstract: This article presents the currently applicable and future regulations concerning the use of environmentally-friendly statements regarding products and services in business-to-consumer relations. The article provides an analysis of cases which are currently conducted by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) concerning greenwashing, which confirms that improper conduct by undertakings may lead to administrative sanctions. In the insurance sector, greenwashing may occur at two levels: (i) at entity level (i.e. intra-corporate), and (ii) at product level (statements that mislead consumers that a given insurance product will support activities beneficial to the environment).
