Summary/Abstract: In his last will, drawn up on 2 January 1597, Stanisław Budziński included many eschatological reflections. As a follower of anti-Trinitarian doctrines, he considered the last wills as documents distorted by bequests to the Church, mixing spiritual and human matters. Accordingly, he divided his last will into a testament and a libellus. The former covered issues of the spirit and family relations, while the latter contains the testator's instructions as to property after his death. This arrangement also allowed him to reconcile his will with his inventory; most likely, Budziński (like many inhabitants of the town of Bochnia at the end of the sixteenth century) did not want an inventory to be made after his death. Hence, he called it libellus. Budziński's last will, however, remains unique on the scale of the testaments preserved in Bochnia's municipal books. In addition to the division mentioned above, in the content of his last will, Budziński, among other things, derived testamentary bequeathing from the Bible, inscribed the process of making a will into God's design and argued that burial in a backyard orchard was no different from burial in a cemetery. A source edition of the analysed last will supplements the article.
