Summary/Abstract: The article examines the phenomenon of infertility from a sociocultural aspect. The causes of infertility will be discussed according to the diagnostics in force in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, following the humoral theory that dictated therapeutic methods at that time. The main content are the methods of treatment proposed by the authors of the source texts. The study is based on narrative sources, mainly Renaissance herbariums and farm guides.
