Summary/Abstract: The article presents the sources of Pope Francis's ecclesiological thought. The basic concepts used by Francis were placed in their proper context in order to understand the innovations from the pastoral perspective. The papal thought on the continual need for pastoral conversion, the preferential option for the poor, the theology of the people, and the change in the pastoral paradigm has been placed in the context of its emergence in the life and pastoral activity of Francis. The author points to the need for in-depth studies on the thought of Pope Francis.
