Russian Language Issues on the Pages of the Journal "Sovremennye zapiski"

Summary/Abstract: Sovremennye zapiski is the most well-known and popular magazine in the emigrant environment, which responded to the pressing problems of social, cultural, political life for twenty years. The first issue was published in Paris in 1920 (November), the last — in 1940 (April). On the pages of the magazine were printed by philosophers, theologians, poets, novelists, scientists, representatives of different political beliefs. In this article we are talking about the fact that for the first Russian emigration the issue of preserving the Russian language was one of the highest priorities. Observations of the changes taking place in the language, the issues of language culture, theoretical research in the study of the Russian language are reflected in the works of different genres published on the pages of the journal: poetic works (K. Balmont), reviews, popular scientific and scientific articles (S. Volkonsky, S. Kartsevsky, P. Bitsilli, etc.). These works reflected the opposite positions of the authors. This is evidenced by the discussion between S. Volkonsky and P. Bitsilli, which continued the pages of other emigrant periodicals.
