Summary/Abstract: Through this study, we aim to valorize and publish documents from the period 1842-1852, regarding the Hangu/Hangu Hermitage and Topolița estates, from the domain of the Cantacuzini boyars, which came under the control of Văratec Monastery, were leased by the commissioner Vasile Zaharia and his nephew, the serdar Theodor Vasiliu, on April 23, 1840. Later on, they were subleased by the great logothete Teodor Balș. In the dispute between the abbesses of Văratec Monastery, Teodor Balș, Gheorghe and Leon Cantacuzino, for the Hangu estate, the Russian Consulate intervened through Karl von Kotzebue. The Cantacuzinis managed to reestablish their ownership rights and sold the Hangu estate in 1852.
