Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the contribution of teacher Amelian Chirilă to the cultural and educational life of the Covurlui village of Tulucești, focusing on her involvement in documenting local traditions and promoting community identity. The study employs ethnographic methods, biographical analysis, and personal archive to reconstruct the impact of her work. This paper aims to recover and highlight the contribution of Amelian Chirilă, a representative personality of the village of Tulucești in the Covurlui area and the Brateș ethnographic micro-region, whose activity took place at the intersection of education, local culture, and ethnographic research. In the context of rapid transformations experienced by rural communities in southern Moldova in recent decades, due to socio-demographic and political factors, recovering such figures becomes essential for understanding how local tradition and cultural identity were cultivated, preserved, and transmitted to new generations. The study analyzes the professional and cultural trajectory of Amelian Chirilă, drawing on family archives, field recordings, and publications dedicated to local folklore and ethnography. As a teacher, he had a direct influence on the formation of generations of students, promoting not only literacy but also the values of the village, respect for intangible heritage, and attachment to the natural environment. His activity was not limited to formal education; Amelian Chirilă was also an important cultural mediator, committed to collecting folklore from the village elders and preserving the traditional repertoire, including folk costume, without any alteration. The methodology employed includes the analysis of written, video, and oral documents, as well as ethnographic techniques of contextual observation. These methods allow the reconstruction of a complex image of the role played by Amelian Chirilă in strengthening local cultural identity. The results highlight that, beyond his profession as a teacher, he functioned as a true guardian and promoter of cultural values in a rural community situated at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the importance of recovering local cultural biographies as a tool for understanding intangible heritage and identity practices in Romanian villages. The life and work of Amelian Chirilă, dedicated to education and ethnography in the village of Tulucești, demonstrate that the discreet personalities of rural communities play a decisive role in maintaining cultural continuity and transmitting the values that define them.
