Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the migration process of students from Honduras, Cuba, and Colombia who, in order to pursue their graduate studies, decided to migrate to Mexico, specifically to higher education institutions in the state of Michoacán. It investigates the particularities and challenges these academic migrants face, from their arrival to their settlement and adaptation process. The paper offers a different perspective on being a migrant in a context of student mobility, in contrast to what an irregular migrant experiences in Mexico. This helps analyze these mobilities as a brain drain and their integration into the host country. This study was based on an analysis of primary sources and structured interviews with ten people of the aforementioned nationalities between November 2024 and May 2025.
