Summary/Abstract: This paper, based on a theoretical and periodical review, aims to show the reality experienced for many years and decades by older Mexicans who have migrated to the United States, either for work reasons since their youth or, in this case, to join their children's families. In this reality we find older adults who, without having made the decision to care for their grandchildren, have had to stay because their children have long working hours, which prevents them from being able to care for them or, if necessary, pay someone to do it, due to the high costs that this implies in that country, in addition to the risk of having them in the care of people who are not family, however, many of the realities of these older adults are not what they really expected because it has kept them for years in confinement in which the longing for their place of origin has been a situation that has affected in some cases their mental and physical health due to the exhausting work of caring for minors. The objective of this investigation is to make visible the social problem and realities of the older population, particularly in that country.
