Summary/Abstract: The article outlines the existential-spiritual background of the author, who, quite early in life, became interested in the history of the eastern Catholic Churches (Armenian and Romanian) and in the Romanian language. Evidence in this regard is his doctoral thesis (on Ioan Inochentie Micu Klein, bishop, scholar and man of letters), as well as his prolific activity as a translator from Romanian into Italian. Special attention is given to his translation of the Memoirs of Iuliu Hossu (1885–1970), bishop, Greek Catholic cardinal, beatified in the year 2019.
