Summary/Abstract: The present study provides a systematic examination of the grassroots dynamics of the ultranationalist and antisemitic National-Christian Defense League (LANC), as well as its successor, the National-Christian Party (PNC), during the interwar period, with a focus on the northern Moldavian counties of Botoșani and Dorohoi. Drawing primarily on archival material to reconstruct their regional specificities, the analysis also engages with broader historiographical insights on the heterogeneous environment of radical right-wing politics between the two world wars. Conceptual and methodological frameworks from the field of fascist studies are employed to underscore the substantial distinctions separating the radical right from both genuine fascism and conservative forces, with the LANC and the PNC firmly placed in the former category. Particular attention is devoted to ideological formulations, political strategies, and social tactics, with constant references to the interplay between local political culture, national transformations, and international shifts. By tracing the features of their theoretical corpus, propaganda methods, organisational culture, electoral endeavours, religious iconography, performative rituals, paramilitary activity and transnational connections, the study reveals how the encompassing project of the radical right was substantially, influentially and resiliently represented at the provincial level of Northern Moldavia.
