Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the relationship between the smart city concept and the idea of autonomous technology. The problem of resistiveness in advanced Information and Communication Technologies that claim to be “autonomous” is identified as a transcendental philosophical concept that marks conditions of possibility and limits the idea of a smart city and autonomous technology. Furthermore, the article shows that information technology access to reality only achieves the typological, but not the eventful, singular, and concrete quality of experience that is subject to the principle of individuation. Thus, the concept of the Smart City is also overloaded with exaggerated hopes.
