Summary/Abstract: “It is a strange irony that modern man has strived so hard to understand the world outside him and so little the one within” , wrote Professor Francisc Rainer with bitterness in the early 1940s. These words closely align with the famous philosophical quote by Plutarch, words that served as a guiding principle for Rainer throughout his life: “Know thyself and you will know the meaning of existence and the entire universe”.
