Summary/Abstract: The chosen topic aims to analyze prostitution as a complex urban phenomenon. In order to understand how it shapes, reconfigures and negotiates with urban space, we rely on indirect research, bibliographic sources that have analyzed this phenomenon over time, but also on direct research – through observation in places where this phenomenon is negotiated and practiced – being considered the easiest way to earn an income. In writing this paper, I will also examine the dynamics of visibility and invisibility, as well as the historical and legislative transformations of this phenomenon. Of course, we will also consider how mobility, risk, and sensoriality produce distinct forms of urban nightlife – from central boulevards to peripheries or virtual spaces – prostitution is no longer considered a social residue, but becomes a constituent element, developed and reinvented in line with contemporary needs. Thus, this study aims to understand the phenomenon of prostitution as a practice through which the city is mediated, performed, and permanently reproduced.
