Summary/Abstract: The family is the most important embryo of society and its further existence. It has an exceptional role in raising the cultural level of social life and in its development. Customs and ethnic characteristics are important for family relations and the formation of daily life. Therefore, the study of the ethnic characteristics of people attracts attention as one of the most important issues in the social sciences. The people regard the family as sacred, and indeed, the spirit and spirituality of the people live in the life of each family, and traditions and ethnic characteristics are passed from generation to generation. Each people have their own ethnic characteristics and traditions. All this has an important influence on the establishment of the family and its formation as a family. When a girl is chosen when starting a family, they pay attention not only to the girl herself but, above all, to her lineage. “Look at her mother, get her daughter” has become a selection criterion. Ethnic characteristics and loyalty to traditions are also reflected in the daily life of the family. One of the issues that attract the most attention when starting a family is the issue of age. This has a great socio-psychological meaning. The age of marriage, which has stood the test of years and centuries, has been formed. The marriage of girls to a boy older than them (girls mature both physiologically and psychologically faster than boys) was valued as the strength of the family. The archetype of “children” has a special meaning in Azerbaijani families. “May you see your children’s goodness!”– This is a great prayer in the Azerbaijani sense. The stability of the Azerbaijani family and the low number of divorces compared to other nations are related to the attitude towards children. Special attention is paid to the upbringing of the girl and her dignified and modest, self-respected behavior. In the family, girls are taught to behave like “little ladies.” The basis of family upbringing for boys is instilling them with masculine virtues. In the Azerbaijani family, loyalty, trust, friendship, and confidentiality have always been highly valued. When women and mothers educate their children and prepare them for future social life while teaching them the moral norms and rules of behavior in society, in short, when giving advice, they have an important role and responsibility to turn to ethnic materials and traditions and use them appropriately.
