Summary/Abstract: This article investigates the construction of the collective ethos of Muslim women through the analysis of their discursive representations in the French press. The study, which relies on a corpus of articles published in the newspaper Libération between 2019 and 2025, focuses both on portrayals of Muslim women and on their own voices as disseminated in the media. These voices sometimes articulate alternative positionings that challenge dominant narratives. The analysis highlights the linguistic and rhetorical strategies by which a collective ethos is shaped. This collective ethos whether of victimization or of resistance is staged through certain lexical choices and through the use of subjectivemes with axiological value, which represent discursive mechanisms that sustain the types of ethos identified in these discourses.
