Summary/Abstract: Building identity through self-narrative is an essential process in the formation of an individual’s self-image. This involves organizing life experiences into a coherent story, which attributes meaning and significance to the events experienced. Self-narrative not only allows to understand one’s own identity, but also influences the way in which the individual is perceived by others, having a social and interactive character. The process involves the selection and integration of significant events in life, reflecting on them and shaping identity according to the social and cultural context. Identity is fluid and can change according to life experiences and reflections on the past. The study analyzes the way in which people construct and express their identity through self-narratives, and highlights the similarities and differences between the ways in which these narratives are influenced by the social and cultural environment.
