Summary/Abstract: The article presents a study which was aimed to identify and evaluate the direction of adaptation of the content of general curricula of the Lithuanian language and mathematics for children with special education needs. The method of content analysis was employed for the analysis of 200 adapted Lithuanian language and mathematics curricula. It was identified that teachers were bound to pay more attention to the analysis of difficulties for pupils and did not envisage the importance of identifying the structure of abilities. The aims formulated by the teachers were rather abstract, suitable for the pupil of any form, independent on the presence or absence of special education needs. The chosen ways and methods did not correspond to the specificity of the child’s disorder, the same ways and methods were applied for children with different disorders. Specialists providing assistance to the child and the teacher, a speech therapist, special educator, paid most attention to the development of insufficiently developed or disordered functions, the specialist rarely noted useful information which could assist the teacher to plan the content of education more effectively, harmonise aims and topics.
