Summary/Abstract: This article brings an idea on the subject of a mythopoetic approachto the characters from Slavic mythology in translations of poems by Sergey Gorodetskyinto Polish. We are going to take a closer look at an poem: Рожество Ярилы (1905) –Jariła (1971). Our task is to analyse the translation and to track to what extent the translatorreflected the specificity of the character from mythology (Russian Ярила) presentedin the original, and how much has the character’s image got changed in the translation. We will also show how specific translational actions influence the perception of the lyricalsituation shown in the poem. Finally, we will examine the extent to which equilinearityand equirythmicality have been preserved in the above-mentioned example.
