Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the spaces through which the protagonists in Boyan Biolchev’s novel The Resettlement pass in their search for salvation and refuge. These locations are examined not merely as geographical points along a route of displacement, but as complex sites of trauma, liminality, and ethical testing, in which human subjectivity is progressively reshaped. Another objective the study sets is to demonstrate how such spaces function as stages of inner transformation, where suffering and endurance give rise to fragile forms of spiritual growth. Read in the context of the broader narrative of forced migration, these places are integrated into a cyclical structure of perpetual departure and incomplete return that defines the refugee condition. Thus, space in the novel emerges as a key mediator between historical catastrophe and individual experience, articulating the tension between loss, memory, and the persistent human longing for home and existential grounding.
