Summary/Abstract: This study examines the totalitarian systems in the dystopian novels 1984 by George Orwell and A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. The primary question that the analysis sets out to answer is how the two fictional languages, Nadsat in A Clockwork Orange and Newspeak in 1984, function as instruments of regulation within the context of a totalitarian state and as a means of isolating the individual from society. By investigating the linguistic characteristics of both languages, the philosophical and ethical aspects of psycholinguistics, and the social and political structures within the two novels, this research demonstrates how censorship and linguistic manipulation serve to distort human nature. The aim of the analysis is to shine a spotlight on the link between the themes of these dystopian novels and modern political strategies of manipulation, illustrating the ways in which human consciousness can be subordinated to language.
