Summary/Abstract: The Franciscan monastery ensemble of Vințu de Jos is among the least studied monuments of the Mureș Valley, having received only brief and tangential treatment in local historiography, in works on the history of the Franciscan Order in Transylvania, in syntheses on Roman‑Catholic churches in the region, in monastic lexicons, and in art‑historical literature. In the absence of extensive research dedicated to its historical development and its architectural and artistic value, the reconstruction of the ensemble’s evolution relies primarily on unpublished archival sources. Of particular importance is the 1761 historical account of the Vințu de Jos residence written by Brother Blasius Kleiner in his Archivum tripartitum, a key source for the Franciscan communities of the Bulgarian custody. Additional information derives from the canonical visitations of the Alba Iulia bishopric and from documents preserved in the parish archive. Based on these materials, the study aims not only to retrace the historical trajectory of the monastic complex but also to provide a descriptive presentation of its architectural and artistic features and to outline the stylistic context in which these elements emerged.
