Summary/Abstract: This article examines the work Nanimissuat Île-tonnerre (2018) by Natasha Kanapé Fontaine within the broader context of Indigenous literature in Quebec. The study focuses on how Kanapé Fontaine articulates the existential solitude and cultural erasure experienced by the Innu people through her poetry. The article highlights the key elements of her work, including the use of natural elements and an‐ cestral voices to symbolize the disconnection and potential re-es‐ tablishment of relations between Indigenous cultures and the world. The analysis reveals that Nanimissuat Île-tonnerre functions as a po‐ etic manifesto, emphasizing resilience and the possibility of revital‐ izing Indigenous identities despite the trauma of isolation and alien‐ ation. Through a detailed aesthetic exploration, the article concludes that Kanapé Fontaine’s poetry offers a powerful resistance to cultural erasure, presenting a vision of renewed connection with the land and ancestral heritage.
