Summary/Abstract: Tintagiles' Death (1894) is an étape in Maeterlinck’s work. This drama bears the strong imprint of a decisive event in the life of the author: the discovery of the writings of the medieval Flemish mystic Jan van Ruusbroec, of which he became the translator from 1885 to 1888. The language of mysticism allows a renewal of writing and dramatic aesthetics.
