Summary/Abstract: Several anecdotes circulate within Reformed church circles about János Vásárhelyi (1888–1960), yet he remains one of the undeservedly forgotten bishops of the Transylvanian Reformed Church District. His name is generally associated with the last decade of his service, but mostly in the one‑sidedly negative judgment that he was a ‘communist bishop.
