Summary/Abstract: Ten years ago, a film titled The Admiral was made in the Netherlands about the life of Michiel de Ruyter. The admiral’s name is well known in Hungarian Protestant public memory, since it was exactly 350 years ago that, thanks to his intervention, the Reformed and Lutheran preachers condemned to galley slavery were set free.
