Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the conflict between Henryk Barycz and Józef Skoczek, which took place during meetings of the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the Jagiellonian University in 1957–1960. It was related to Associate Professor Skoczek’s efforts to obtain the title of associate professor. Barycz criticized the candidate’s academic achievements, accusing him of numerous borrowings from other people’s works and technical errors. The conflict escalated so much in the Krakow academic community that the Security Service took an interest in it. Since Skoczek’s interrogation did not bring any measurable results, the case was closed.
