Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the historiography and memory of German socialists in Lodz, serving as a contribution to the study of the history of Germans in the city. The author presents the main figures of this milieu, examines the position of the German Socialist Labour Party in the multiethnic urban context, and identifies two currents that dominated the postwar memory of Lodz’s German socialists. Particular attention is paid to the biography of Otto Heike, a German socialist who collaborated with the Nazi authorities during the occupation. In the second part, the article draws on Heike’s postwar correspondence, highlighting the potential for further research based on the egodocuments of German socialists from the postwar period.
