The prospective role of cyberspace ethics

Summary/Abstract: A recurrent demand accompanying the technological development of contemporary cyberspace is axiological-normative reflection. The digital realm has not only a technological and social dimension, but above all a cultural-ethical one. It is a domain of human action that is conscious and free; accordingly, the very presence of the human person necessarily implies the ethical character of cyberspace. The processes of a networked society and the dominant influence of the digital sphere on human life pose an evident challenge for ethics, generating and reinforcing inquiries into its foundations, the nature of its principles, the quality of its argumentation, and the strength and scope of its normativity.
