The beginnings of the Redemptorist foundation in Głogów, in memories of Father Dr. Joseph Schweter CSsR, years: 1924/1925, 1930 and 1932

Summary/Abstract: This article arised in connection with the Redemptorists' celebration of the centenary of their stay in Głogów. The author intended to show the beginnings of the congregation activity in Głogów in the historical and geographic perspective of the Redemptorists presence in the diocese of Wrocław. Redemptorist Father Dr. Joseph Schweter was an eyewitness to these events and left in his autobiography a description of the beginnings of this foundation at the turn of 1924/1925 and notes relating to his subsequent stays and pastoral activities in Głogów in 1930 and 1932. Thus, the author of the article decided to show these beginnings in the light of the memories of Father Schweter, who was an outstanding historian of the Catholic Church in Lower Silesia. The article consists of five parts. Despite the introduction and conclusion, the article delivers: a short presentation of the profile of Father Dr. Joseph Schweter - a Redemptorist, an equally short, chronological description of the arrival of the Redemptorists in the diocese of Wrocław and the establishment of subsequent communities of this congregation in its territory, as well as a description relating directly to the beginnings of the Redemptorists' presence in Głogów. The latter was divided into the turn of 1924 and 1925 and into the years 1930 and 1932, when Father J. Schweter served in Głogów.
