Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to show the confessional as a place of sacramental confession in the aspect of canon law. The first part presents the issue of a place for the celebration of the sacrament of penance in a historical aspect. The second part presents the regulations on the use of confessional in the current general law, while the third part is devoted to the norms of episcopal conferences about the place of confession. The whole article ends with conclusions and bibliography.
