Summary/Abstract: Analytical philosophy of religion is an academic discipline that uses the analytic method to reflect philosophically on the broader phenomenon of religion. Despite the vitality of the discipline, there is a growing number of voices suggesting that narrowing reflection solely to the traditional analytic method on issues as close to everyday human experience as religious issues may be too limiting. The first purpose of this paper is to review these voices, which, while insightful, are often scattered and mutually isolated. Bringing them together makes it possible to make visible the scale and nature of the need for a renewal of the analytic approach, and offers a foundation for reflecting on the suggested reorientation of the analytic method. On the basis of a review and discussion of three proposals for the renewal of analytic philosophy of religion presented by Eleonore Stump, John Cottingham and Paul Moser, the author pursues its second goal: to present an original proposal for a regulative definition of the renewed analytic approach, which would better meet the needs of the philosophy of religion. This work serves as a contribution to broader reflection on the direction of transformations in analytic philosophy of religion.
