Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to examine the latest adaptation of Reymont's novel The Peasants, directed by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman, in the context of the Young Poland movement's fascination with peasantry, known as "chłopomania." It refers to previous film adaptations and compares the key elements of their reviews. The article also discusses significant differences between the cinematic portrayal of Jagna and her literary original. This analysis reveals that the character in question has not, in fact, been modernized in the latest animation. Furthermore, the film is not an example of a creative betrayal of the adapted work, but rather a case of folklorized rural imagery.
