Summary/Abstract: The article examines the statements of literary critic Adam Grzymała-Siedlecki on the work of Władysław Stanisław Reymont. The analyzed materials include primarily press columns, reviews, Grzymała-Siedlecki’s forewords to the works of the author of Chłopi, as well as correspondence. On their basis, three elements of Reymont’s writing are distinguished and discussed, which, according to the critic, were characteristic of him: the plasticity of image, the theatricality of creating characters, and a sense of observing reality. The work also uses biographical sources in order to trace the development of Reymont’s writing talent.
