Summary/Abstract: The Thousand Houses of Dream and Terror and Earth and Ashes exhibit the characteristics of mythic literature, particularly through the use of mise en abyme and the multiplication of narrative events via the integration of folk tales. Atiq Rahimi draws on Eastern narrative traditions, seeking a form reminiscent of One Thousand and One Nights in order to enrich his works both textually and intertextually. Through the rewriting of myth, he explores a poetics of the infinite, grounded in a circular narrative structure that echoes the continuity and resonance of stories. In these two novels, the author offers a profound reflection on the suffering of his protagonists and the complexity of their relationship to an unrelenting fate. This study aims to examine how myth, as both narrative and symbolic structure, enables the author to highlight the contradictions of a traumatic reality, while simultaneously endowing his narratives with a universal dimension—thus revealing the power of mythical memory as a form of resistance to oblivion and destruction.
