Summary/Abstract: This essay focuses on the discussion of the audiosphere in Władysław Stanisław Reymont’s short stories, which I confront with the natural way of measuring time, as sounds usually gain strength in certain seasons (spring, summer) and lose their strength in autumn or winter. Additionally, they correspond to the cycle of constantly reborn nature, but at the same time accompany individual dramas. Therefore, I discuss Reymont’s audiosphere in two contexts. First, I draw attention to the sounds (including music, e.g. chants or church songs) that measure time in the context of a rural community. On the other hand, I draw attention to the sounds that accompany the measuring of time for specific characters, especially just before their death.
